About

Alissa Fields, DC

I enjoy working with people who desire increased awareness on how to move better and feel better; facilitating and encouraging healthy movement through chiropractic manual therapies, home exercise and education— to resolve pain, minimize symptom recurrence and improve quality of life.
My treatments include gentle manual therapies to treat musculoskeletal conditions with gentle low force adjusting techniques, soft tissue release, cranial therapy and education.
I’m forever seeking and teaching the empowering impact of increased awareness and embodiment. I’m constantly inspired to learn about the connection between the mind and body— so I can share with people who seek the same.
I’m Board Certified Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) in Portland, Oregon. I graduated Cum Laude from University of Western States Chiropractic. My chiropractic career started at Whole Mama Whole Child and Center For Chiropractic and Pain Rehabilitation in Portland.
My approach with patients is thoughtful, personalized, and evidence-informed. It’s important to me to address self-care strategies that complement my office treatments.

Pregnancy and Chiropractic Care

Empowering the mother to trust in her body’s own ability to move through the incredible experience of birth.
~Dr. Alissa

The benefits to the mother:

  • Webster technique prepares the pelvis for an easier pregnancy and birth by balancing the pelvic structures (bone, muscle, fascia, ligaments).
  • Decreases pulling on the uterus by decreasing tension on uterine ligaments.
  • Improves quality of nervous system communication to the pelvic structures.
  • Decreases the potential for unnecessary interventions during pregnancy and birth.

The benefits for the infant:

  • Allows the baby to have more room and less restriction of formation of cranium, spine and other skeletal structures.
  • Allows infant to move into optimal position for birth.
  • Less intervention when baby is in an optimal fetal position.

Rotational subluxation of the sacrum may result in a tightening and torsion of the utero-sacral ligament contributing to aberrant tension in the uterus affecting labor progression, optimal fetal positioning, and natural, non-invasive birth outcome.

“Dr. Fields is a compassionate, attentive and skilled chiropractor. It is easy to feel safe in her hands! She is caring and very thorough covering a lot of ground at each visit. I feel so well tended when I leave! Dr. Fields doesn’t just treat the acute need – she also addresses the underlying patterns and issues. Because of her I am less prone to injury and less dependent on adjustments to keep up my active lifestyle. I happily refer my patients to Dr. Fields, even if they are unfamiliar with chiropractic medicine. I know they will receive exceptional, attuned care, and she will help them feel comfortable at every step of the way.” ~Krista Tricarico, Naturopath

“Dr. Alissa is the best secret to feeling somewhat comfortable during pregnancy! I saw here during my last six weeks of pregnancy and felt better than I would have thought possible after every visit. I absolutely preferred her over any prenatal massage: the effects were just as powerful and lasted a lot longer, and helped my body prepare for birth. She is amazing!” ~Tyler, Prenatal Patient

“I had a very long labor that ended with an unplanned C-section, and Dr. Alissa was the only medical professional afterwards who seemed to care about how my body was recovering, and who had substantive advice to help me recover better. She helped re-stabilize my pelvis and hips, she worked on my shoulders to help me avoid breastfeeding issues, and she helped keep my spine mobile even when I couldn’t move very much. I remain so grateful for her guidance and expertise and kindness, and believe that without her my body (and consequently my mind) would have had a much harder and slower recovery.” ~Tyler, Postnatal Patient

“Baby Fitz loves Dr. Alissa! He saw her within his first week of life and every week after for two months; we had a long labor and he was stuck in the birth canal for six hours. Even the hospital pediatrician told us we should think about cranial work. Dr. Alissa helped his head and skull recover from an arduous process, and helped even out his body so that he could nurse comfortably on both sides and had better use of all his arms and legs. He was so happy after all his Dr. Alissa appointments; he would sleep more deeply, nurse better, and spit up less for 24 hours afterwards. I am so grateful that she was there to help take care of our little guy.” ~Fitz’s mother
